PREP COOK, PASTA MAKER

Job Title: Cook

Wage Range: $13.50 to $14.50, depending on experience

Hours Per Week: 40 hours

Vacation: 4% of wage or 10 working days off per annum

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience inĀ Italian cuisine
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic professional cooking procedures, including knife handling skills, knowledge of food safety and sanitation with food handling
  • Ability to work in a team environment in a calm, efficient manner and effectively under pressure
  • BC Foodsafe Certification

 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Fluency in Italian language
  • Experience and knowledge of Italian cuisine as a whole

 

Main Duties:

  • Preparing and cooking of Italian cuisine, including complete meals or individual dishes and foods, while working on several different orders simultaneously
  • Prepare speciality foods, following specific methods set by the manager/owner
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity
  • Read order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patrons, and prepare and cook food according to instructions
  • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared, and wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking
  • Follow recipes
  • Schedule activities and equipment use, using information about daily menus to help coordinate cooking times

 

Additional Duties

  • Taking direction in a professional manner from manager/owner
  • Order and take delivery of supplies, as needed
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils
